Philosophy of Care

Woodrow Retirement Home has remained committed for over thirty years to providing residents with a safe, secure, happy and homely environment. We deliver high-quality, evidence-based care that is compassionate, person-centred and informed by good practice and current standards.

Woodrow is supported by a dedicated and valued staff team who provide care with warmth, empathy, kindness and compassion. These principles underpin our Philosophy of Care and guide everything we do.

Our staff strive to preserve and promote the dignity, individuality and privacy of all residents within a warm and caring atmosphere. Care is delivered in a way that is responsive to residents’ changing needs, including their physical and mental wellbeing, medical and therapeutic requirements, as well as their cultural, psychological, spiritual, emotional, social and occupational needs.

Residents are actively encouraged to participate in the development of their individualised, person-centred care plans. The involvement of family members and representatives, where appropriate, is welcomed and valued.

Open and effective communication between residents, families and staff is central to the care we provide. This is supported through regular discussion, involvement in care planning and a programme of meaningful activities designed to promote mental alertness, self-esteem and social interaction. These approaches reflect the core values of care that are fundamental to life at Woodrow Retirement Home.
